Many years ago I was a fine art major but ended up choosing civil engineering as my primary trade. I spend nearly all my spare time producing art of various kinds and I am currently doing a series of abstracts. I hope you enjoy viewing my work and thank you for spending some of your time here.
My creative process starts with a rough idea and a few notes and sketches entered into a folder labeled 'Ideas For Work'. After I finish a piece I'll browse the folder and maybe choose something there or start one out of the blue.
I quickly learned that I'm no good at guessing what works people will like. I think it depends in part on how and where a person was raised, what their hobbies are and what they do for a living. I noticed that for some people certain colors and shapes produce a negative feeling. Religion may also play a role in the positive/negative balance. It's interesting to study.
I wonder sometimes if the desire to do art is genetic or maybe some kind of therapy. People will do art even though they receive no money and it can be very tiring, mentally and physically. But artists must be getting something back because reason would say no one works for nothing.
